Jurriaan Kamp

Jurriaan Kamp, 44, is the Editor-in-Chief and Founder of Ode Magazine, an independent, international news magazine that he launched in The Netherlands in 1995, with his wife Hélène de Puy.  With private financing, Mr. Kamp and Ms. de Puy established their own publishing company to publish the magazine.

From 1990-1993, Mr. Kamp was Chief Economics Editor of the leading Dutch daily, NRC Handelsblad.  Between 1986 and 1990 he was the South Asia correspondent, based in New Delhi, India, for NRC Handelsblad, and he reported for other Dutch media, including radio and television.  In 1991, Mr. Kamp founded the Dutch think tank, The Club of Schiermonnikoog.

From 1984-86, Mr. Kamp was an editor at the economic desk of NRC Handelsblad.  From 1979-1984 he worked as an assistant to a member of the European Parliament.  Mr. Kamp holds a Masters degree in International Law from the University of Leyden in The Netherlands.

Mr. Kamp is the author of various books published in Dutch.  His two most recent books were translated into English: Because People Matter: Building an Economy that Works for Everyone (Paraview, New York, 2003), and Small Change: How Fifty Dollars Can Change the World (Lemniscaat, Rotterdam, 2003).

In The Netherlands, Mr. Kamp and Ode regularly organize lectures, seminars and conferences.
