Lord Yehudi Menuhin †

Violinist and Conductor. Alongside his renown as a great musician, the late Lord Menuhin was equally recognized for his committed humanism exemplified by his interest in and work for young people. In 1960 he was awarded the Nehru Peace Prize for international understanding, and in 1992 he became Goodwill Ambassador of Unesco. In 1977 Lord Menuhin founded the International Music Academy for young Graduate String Players in Gstaad, the site of the annual Menuhin Music Festival. Besides his numerous recordings, various films and videos, he achieved wide success with his book "The Music of Man", which is part of the television series of the same name.

Yehudi Menuhin died in spring 1999.
