Herman Wijffels
(Photo: Sjaak Ramakers) Dr Herman H.F. Wijffels has been Chairman of the Netherlands Social and Economic Council (SER) since 15 March 1999. In 1981, he joined the Executive Board of the Rabobank Group, an AAA-rated financial institution headquartered in the Netherlands and active internationally in financing agri-business. In 1986 he was appointed as its Chairman.
From 1968 until 1977 he was a civil servant at the European Commission and in the Dutch administration and from 1977 until 1981 Secretary General of the Dutch Federation of Industries.
Herman Wijffels is also Chairman of the Society for Preservation of Nature in the Netherlands. Furthermore, he is Chairman of the Supervisory Boards of the Rijksmuseum, Tilburg University and the University Medical Centre Utrecht. Wijffels serves on a number of corporate boards and as a director of several charities.
